The Northern part of Vietnam offers interesting activities for families in addition to the amazing beauty of nature. In the mountains, your family will visit hill-tribe groups and their villages, stay in their house, eat their food, hike off-beaten tracks, bike on the paths in peaceful countryside, and enjoy bamboo rafting. In the sea, you will board a junk, stay overnight on this floating hotel, explore Surprise cave in the middle of a mountain or paddle a kayak to discover hidden caves. After many active days, it’s time to chill out on a white sand beach in Danang in the centre of Vietnam.

Day 1: Hanoi – Arrival
Upon arrival at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, you are welcomed by our guide and transferred to downtown. Check in your hotel and relax after a long-haul flight. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 2: Hanoi’s highlights (B)
Morning can be free for late sleep to allow your family to adjust to time changes. Don’t forget to reconfirm buffet breakfast time and require a wake-up call with your hotel. After a late breakfast, meet our guide and visit the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology which successfully presents the recognition of Vietnam as a multi-ethnic country and promotes socio-cultural diversity. This is the biggest museum in Vietnam with indoor and outdoor exhibitions. Traditional long house, Rong House, rammed-earth house…and even grave house of different minorities throughout Vietnam were moved to the backyard of the museum. The museum became a weekend outing place for Hanoian families.
Next, visit the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university dating back to the 11th century. The temple is renowned for 82 stone turtles carrying steles. It’s said that touching head of those stone turtles will bring luck to students who are going to attend important examination.
Then you will explore Hanoi’s Old Quarter by a cyclo ride through its 36 bustling streets which were named after the specific goods once offered for sale at these places. This is the most lively and colorful area in Hanoi.
Our car will drop you off at your hotel after the visits and the remainder of the day is at your leisure. You can take more walking around the Old Quarter of Hanoi for shopping, try local ice-creams by the lake, or find a good restaurant to taste Vietnamese cuisine. Hanoi is a family friendly city. Walking is highly recommended.
Day 3: Hanoi – Mai Chau by car – Mai Hich village - homestay (B/L/D)
After breakfast, you will leave Ha Noi for Mai Chau. Our driver will take you through a beautiful mountainous province of Hoa Binh located in the Southwest of the capital of Viet Nam. Four hours on the way, you’ll see gorgeous scenery dotted with limestone and rice paddies while passing several small villages of Thai, H’Mong, and Dao people.
Descending the last 14km of your first day of the tour on a steep mountain road into the stunning valley of Mai Chau, you will reach a village where your tasty lunch is prepared. Your comfortable bed tonight will be at a home in this quaint village where you can experience the rich culture and tradition of the Thai hilltribe people.
Arrive at your homestay by noon time, enjoy a meal cooked by your host. After a short rest, you will ride a bicycle through the villages. Along the biking route, you will stop to visit local families and learn about daily life, their farming and weaving work etc. Have dinner at your homestay & overnight at Mai Hich Village.
Day 4: Mai Hich Village – Na Phon Village (B/L)
After breakfast, take a walk through villages, talk with the villagers you meet; visit a kindergarten or a primary school (on weekdays) or take another bike ride through corn fields & peanut fields to reach Xia Spring. Enjoy a rafting experience along the scenic Xia Spring and chatting with Thai ethnic women. They will sing some Thai songs in their own language while rowing rafting. Head back to the village and lunch will be ready.
In the afternoon, you will take 10km drive back to the main town and turn left for a few kilometers to Na Phon Village, check in to your bungalow at a hillside resort. Relax by poolside and enjoy beauty of mountains, green or yellow rice field from your room’s terrace. Overnight in Mai Chau at an eco lodge.
Day 5: Mai Chau – more hill tribe village (B)
In the morning, enjoy peaceful and fresh atmosphere while having your breakfast.
Appoint the time with your guide for another walk to Lac & Pom Coong Villages, also home of Thai Hilltribe minority. Take your bicycle and ride farther to Chieng Sai Village, Van Village and Nhot Village with the moderate distance of 5 - 7 kilometers. Those villages are less touristic and still traditional. The locals are still mostly living in wooden stilt houses surrounded by tree bushes. The road leading to the villages becomes muddy and slippery on rainy days. Overnight in Mai Chau at an eco lodge.
Day 6: Mai Chau - Hanoi by car (B)
After Breakfast is free at your bungalow resort for swimming or more pleasant walking. Check out of your room by noon time and take another 4 hours drive back to Hanoi. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 7: Hanoi – Ha Long Bay by car - Bai Tu Long Bay (B/L/D)
Spending a night aboard a junk is the ideal way to see Ha Long Bay, a World Natural Wonder and UNESCO site. From the comfort of a luxury traditional wooden junk, the mystical scenery of Ha Long Bay, with thousands of limestone islands jutting out from the emerald waters and colorful floating villages, can be truly enjoyed.
Take a 3.5 hour drive to Ha Long Bay, a World Wonder of nature. You will go through the provinces of Bac Ninh and Hai Duong before reaching Quang Ninh Province where Ha Long Bay is located.
Upon arrival, board your cruise and enjoy a welcome drink & cruise briefing. Have lunch while cruising to magnificent Bai Tu Long Bay, and admire the fascinating formations. Cruise farther to Bai Tu Long where you will paddle a kayak around Cap La and Tra San area, get closer to islets and secluded beaches, swim or sunbathe on sundeck. Dinner and overnight on board in Cong Do area.
Day 8: Bai Tu Long Bay – Thien Canh Son Cave (B/L/D)
Take in amazing view of sunrise and the bay’s landscape with a cup of tea or coffee before breakfast in the fresh air. Then keep cruising to Cong Dam area while discovering geological values of Bai Tu Long Bay. Enjoy kayaking through the hidden lagoons and geological park in Cong Dam. Have a BBQ lunch on a wild beach between the activities.
Afternoon is for relaxing and exploring the well- hidden Thien Canh Son cave in the middle of Hon Co Island. Later, return to the boat and cruise to a quiet lagoon for overnight. Have dinner and overnight onboard in Cap La area.
Day 9: Vung Vieng Fishing Village – Ha Long Bay – Hanoi by car – Danang by flight (B/L)
Have breakfast on board while cruising to Vung Ha area. Visit Vung Vieng fishing village by a rustic rowing boat. Then check out of the cabin. Your boat cruises towards the harbor while a lunch is served. Disembark and drive back to Hanoi, in a good time to connect directly to a flight to Danang.
Arriving at Danang Airport, you’re greeted by our driver and transferred to your beach resort. Check in to your room and overnight in Danang.
Day 10 to day 13: Danang – Free (B)
You have four free days in Danang. Wonderful time for relaxing, cooling down by poolside, swimming in the sea, playing water sports! Families will also enjoy the Asian amuseument park, a half day sightseeing of Danang city or a day at Bana Hill to play games or ride the cable car moving between hill tops and above amazing scenery.
Most beach resorts in Danang offer complimentary shuttle bus to Hoi An Ancient town. Please check their bus schedule and call to concierge or reception to reserve your seats. You can also take a taxi at around 15-17$ for one way if your plan is out of bus schedule. We also offer private transfer or sightseeing with experienced guide to Hoi An Ancient town, its surrounding villages, My Son Sanctuary or to Hue and back in a day.
Day 14: Danang – Departure (B)
You will be free at leisure at your resort until meeting our driver for transfer to the airport in a good time to connect to your departure flight.
